Building Workplaces Where People Love to Work

Rebecca Longman helps organisations build the conditions where people do their best work.

Rebecca Longman

Hello, I'm Rebecca

I didn't set out to write about work. I set out to understand it.

We spend most of our waking lives at work, and more of us should be getting energy from it, not having it drained out of us. Why settle for less?

Two years interviewing people who genuinely love their work showed me one clear pattern: they were agents of their own careers. But agency only sticks when the leaders, systems and culture around it support it. That's the AgencyBACkbone™ framework, and it sits at the centre of my work with leaders and organisations today.

I'm a business psychologist, executive coach, keynote speaker and author. My first book, Let's Love to Work, is a guide for individuals building a career they love. My second, Let's Build Agentic Workplaces, publishes in September 2026.

The Agency Diagnostic

One of the questions I get most from leaders is some version of: 'We talk about agency at work, but how would we even know how much our people have?'

So I built this. Nine questions across the three core areas of agency. A simple scoring scale shows you where your organisation sits right now, and where the biggest shift is waiting.

Five minutes, one page, built from the framework in my next book.
